Summer Field Course at Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, PA- B.F. Environmental Consultants was the co-instructor for a field training course titled "Field Methods In Applied Geosciences". Because of the success of the course, the course has been expanded from 7 to 10 days and the class size was increased by over 100%. For information, send email message to Course Information. One Day Intense Training
Summer Field Workshops In Northeastern Pennsylvania.
At this moment, the workshop schedule has not been clearly defined, but we
are thinking of the following subjects:
1) Soils Science, Hydrology, and Infiltration - Field Experience in Measuring and Evaluating Infiltration, Permeability, and Insights into BMP Selection - (1/2 day lecture - 1/2 day field)
2) Soils and On-Site Wastewater Disposal - Field Experience in Evaluating Soil Probes, Surface Hydrology, and Insights into Wastewater Disposal System Selection - (1/2 day lecture - 1/2 day field)- 1 to 2 day option
3)Hydrology and Water Quality - Developing a water budget and field experience documenting stream flow, measuring water quality, real-time water quality data collection and retrieval, installing pressure transducers, slug testing, pumping tests, double ring infiltrameters, pan evaporators, and more. Probably - 2 day course
4) Water Well Construction - We will actually drill one new well (bedrock or unconsolidated well) - Review construction standards, material selection, evaluate a camera survey, measure water quality in the field, and develop a groundwater flow map. (2 day course)
Workshops Indoors
1)Pennsylvania Perspective on Septic System Operation, Maintenance, and Management.
2)Private Well Owner Programs - Hydrology, Well Construction, Water Quality, Groundwater, Common Water Quality Problems in YOUR Area. Workshops are set-up customized to the specific water quality issues or concerns for your Group. Many workshops are conducted in coordination with the Carbon County Groundwater Guardians. Workshops have been conducted for county government, local agencies, watershed groups, lakes associations, and other private citizens groups.
3)Lake and Watershed Monitoring and Assessment Training or Development Workshops.
4) Soils, Soils Testing, BMP Selection and Hydrological Evaluations for Stormwater Management.
