Environmental Consultants based in Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Poconos region has been providing professional geological soils hydrogeological environmental consulting services and sewage enforcement officer services since 1985. The company specializes in the following areas: hydrogeological and wastewater evaluations for siting land-based wastewater disposal systems; soils consulting, environmental monitoring, overseeing the siting, exploration, and development of community/ commercial water supply sources; and other environmental services.

• Conducting soil, hydrogeological and wastewater evaluations for siting individual & community wastewater disposal systems;
• PA Sewage Enforcement Officer related activities including soils testing, expert testimony, percolation testing, system design, custom design, and failed system evaluations;
• Conducting sanitary surveys and overseeing the siting, exploration, and development of new community/ commercial water supply sources;
• Developing, conducting and interpreting the results of surface and groundwater quality monitoring programs as related to water supply development, contaminate migration, or geochemical analysis;
• Soils evaluation, infiltration testing, permeability testing related to developing and
  siting stormwater infiltration systems and large volume land-based wastewater disposal systems.
• Conducting On-site Inspections and House to House Surveys related to evaluating individual on-lot disposal systems.
• Soils evaluation, infiltration testing, permeability testing and evaluating and determining optimal loading and application rates for spray irrigation wastewater recharge/disposal system and conducting hydrogeological studies as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP).
• Developing and Assisting in Training Activties Related to Soil Science, Hydrology, On-Site System Siting, Design, and Operation, and Evaluation of Alternative and Innovative On-Site Disposal Systems.

Because of Mr. Oram background in Environmental Pollution Control and research on removal mechanisms for the parasitic protozoan Giardia, B.F. Environmental Consultants has been involved with the evaluation of surface and groundwater supplies for the purpose of determining if Giardia is present or if the groundwater source was directly under the influence of a surface water body. The company has also provided expert testimony in the fields of environmental science, hydrology, on-lot wastewater disposal, and geology.

Major Projects Completed in   1998 -  2006

Soils and Hydrological Testing Related to the Sizing of proposed wastewater disposal facilities for Great Wolf Lodge, Bartonsville, Pennsylvania.

Soils, Spray Irrigation and Drip Irrigation Evaluation to update an older system and provide future growth for Camp Wayne for Girls, Wayne County, Pennsylvania- 20,000 + gpd.

Soils, Spray Irrigation, Drip Irrigation and  Hydrological Evaluation for to update an older system and provide future growth Camp Tioga, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania- 10,000+ gpd.

Evaluation and Conceptual Design of a proposed single family constructed wetland - Evapotranspiration System,
Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.  Evaluating the Use of Constructed Wetlands System for treating wastewater from a single family residence and making recommendations regarding system configuration, pretreatment, design modifications, and operation.

Sizing and Preparing Conceptual Design for Bioretention Systems for Treating Stormwater Runoff. Multiple projects in Carbon, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Monroe, and Pike County.  Preliminary projects were also conducted in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Preliminary hydrological evaluation and Nitrate Dispersion Plume Modeling for Low-flow and large volume on-site wastewater disposal systems.

Conducting soils and hydrological evaluations related to the dry stream discharge systems.

Proposed East Stroudsburg School Complex- Completed all the necessary site testing and provided design information for the siting of a 50,000 gpd spray irrigation wastewater disposal system. Through the use of fracture tracing, a proposed well location was determined and subsequent drilling and investigation resulting in a well producing over 300 gpm.

Proposed Jim Thorpe Elementary School Complex- Completed all necessary soils and onsite testing for a 10,000 gpd spray irrigation wastewater disposal system. Site testing included: soil test pits, hydroconductivity testing, and determining infiltration capacity. Data was used to develop a site specific water budget, calculate the annual and monthly spray irrigation loading depths, document the direction of groundwater flow, and develop a groundwater monitoring program.

Review of New York Model Ordinance for On-lot Wastewater Disposal- Technical review of a proposed model ordinance for New York State. Services included a technical review of testing protocols, system selection, system design, and construction 

Pocono Brewing Company- Conducted a Preliminary and Detailed Hydrological Investigation to Determine Direction of Groundwater Flow and Development of Long-Term Monitoring Plan. Also, the company is providing technical assistance with the monitoring of a new Wastewater Denitrification System used by the facility.

Diesel Fuel Contamination- On-site testing, site characterization, monitoring well design and installation, mapping groundwater flow and contaminant pathways, and developing groundwater and soil monitoring plan.

Developing Land Based Wastewater Disposal Alternatives for the Blooming Grove Hunting and Fishing Club a combination of conventional disposal, experimental systems, and spray irrigation.
